Gaming and Tech Injury Medicine Program

OVERVIEW

The Stanford Gaming and Tech Injury Medicine Program is a pioneering initiative led by Dr. Raymond Chou, dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and research of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions that develop from prolonged interaction with electronic devices.

This innovative program brings together specialists across multiple disciplines to support professional and collegiate esports athletes, recreational gamers, and technology professionals.

Patients receive comprehensive care beginning with a detailed medical evaluation, followed by individualized plans that may include ergonomic and postural optimization, hand and occupational therapy, and non-surgical or surgical interventions when needed.

Hand Therapy Lead Vansen Wong plays a key role in guiding recovery and performance optimization for gamers, using current techniques in rehabilitation and injury prevention to help patients restore function and maintain peak performance. He provides a holistic and collaborative approach to patient care, emphasizing comprehensive assessment and individualized treatment to help patients restore function, reduce pain, and improve performance in daily and occupational activities. His clinical interests include acute and chronic injury management, with a focus on repetitive strain and posture-related conditions in gamers and technology professionals.
